Ben Caplan

Ben Caplan Returns!

In Partnership with The Living Roots Music Festival, the Shivering Songs Festival is proud to present Ben Caplan May 27th at Wilmot United Church.
In its second year The Living Roots Music Festival aims to produce intimate performances in venues and local businesses throughout the Fredericton area. The festival primarily focuses on acoustic, roots and soul music but has been known to engage in other music styles. Last year the festival held performances in select private homes throughout the city, but decided to focus on eight venues this year including The Capital Complex,  Grimross Brewing Co. The Abby Cafe and GalleryReads Newstand and Cafe, The Royal BarbershopThe Loch Pub & Grill ( in Harvey) and Wilmot Church.

Ben Caplan is no stranger to Fredericton nor the Wilmot Church and we are excited to have him back in Fredericton May 27th as the finale to the Living Roots Music Festival. A charismatic charmer and a smasher of pianos. A madman and an earnest poet. A strummer of delicate chords and a lover of bent and broken melodies. Ben Caplan is not any one thing. As he releases his second album, he’s already gained a following in more than a dozen countries from Australia to Europe and across North America. It’s no surprise. Caplan is simply unforgettable; with his huge beard and unruly mane, he is as visually striking as he is aurally compelling. His rough and textured tones cut through crowded halls; an enormous voice, roaring louder than raucous crowds. The microphone looks almost superfluous. But looks are deceiving; once he has your attention, Caplan can croon smoother than a glass of single malt whisky, pouring beauty into a harsh world.
