Get Ready To Rock to The Hypochondriacs
The Capital Complex is throwing a big party on The Capital patio on Saturday September 9th to celebrate the much anticipated album release of The Hypochondriacs ‘In 3/4’ with special performances by The Galpines, The Hypochondriacs and The Tortoise the Hare & the Millionaire.
Like Frankenstein’s monster drunk on whiskey sours, the Hypochondriacs resurrect classic country vibes with a strange and captivating modern twist. Weaving together the emotional balladry of country legends like Hank Williams and George Jones with the up-tempo, high-octane stage presence of Memphis rockabilly and undercoated with the saccharine sounds of ‘50s doo-wop, it’s a sound that’s all at once familiar and refreshing.
Lead singer Josh Bravener has music in his blood, with his touring life starting at the tender age of six, accompanying his father out on the road. Just from his fierce and self-assured stage presence, you can tell that he was born to do this. Armed with songs about the crushing heartbreak of love, and the love/hate relationship with the bottle, Bravener and his brother Aaron started the Hypochondriacs in 2012 and have been relentlessly hitting every stage they can since. Playing over a hundred shows – from intimate acoustic house shows to hitting the stage at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto – and winning hearts in the process, the band has solidified itself as high-energy whirlwind that you just can’t peel your eyes away from.
