Week Two of the Reaper Cup Full of Twists & Turns

The Reaper Cup Heats Up in Round Two

Well…you can’t say the Reaper Cup at the Hilltop hasn’t been interesting. Week two of the pepper eating contest has been full of twists and turns. Emcee, Eric Moffatt had his hands full this week. To start, there were two drop-outs to start the week, setting the list of competitors from 5 to 3. Darren (the Alien) Mackenzie dropped out after injuring his larynx with a chicken bone during last week’s qualifying round. Owen Miller bowed out citing health issues.

To add to the crazy mix, Chuck Barry could only make it through a couple of wings….then threw in the towel. He told Fred-E-Scene that he hadn’t been feeling very well for a few days. He was contemplating dropping out, but decided to try and tough it out. He said the sauce was the hottest  thing that he ever had. The sentiment was carried by all of the participants. Barry took third place and was presented with the Mott’s Clamato Caesar Mix Gift Pack and Cooler.

This puts the list of competitors at two, Vegan Kate Gallant and her friend Max Brown. Two friends will battle it out to see who has the stomach to take on the reaper sauce one last time to win a trip for two to Las Vegas. To see their times, keep an eye out on the Hilltop Facebook page.

There were a myriad of door prizes given out throughout the night provided by Corporate and Local sponsors. Sponsors include: New Beginnings Vape Studio, Esthetics by Samm, Canadian Tire Gas+, Pintys, Sysco, Costco, Mulders Meats, In the Dog House Hot Dog Cart, Sirf Marketing, Motts Clamato, Jack Daniels, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and East Coast Lifestyle. To get tickets, customers must purchase a bucket of Pabst Blue Ribbon (5 beer for 21.99) or the Hilltop’s special Diablo Caesar (made especially for the event).

The last and final round is next Tuesday night starting at 7:00 pm. Come cheer on your favorite Iron Stomach Competitor. Maybe you can try the reaper sauce yourself.
