FREDERICTON (GNB) – Communities across the province will be hosting special events to celebrate Wellness Week, Oct. 1-7.
“It is always great to see so many communities, groups, and individuals helping to shape a culture of wellness in our province,” said Families and Children Minister Stephen Horsman. “Creating supportive environments in our communities that encourage healthy choices and improve our overall wellness helps us build a stronger, healthier New Brunswick.”
Wellness Week, held every year, provides an opportunity for groups, organizations, communities, workplaces and schools to celebrate and grow the Wellness Movement in New Brunswick by hosting a variety of activities designed to get people excited about taking steps to enhance their wellness and that of their family and community.
The public is encouraged to participate in the activities being held throughout the province to recognize and connect with the people and places around them that support their wellness.
A calendar of events is available online.
Promoting wellness is one of seven priority areas outlined in the New Brunswick Family Plan framework, which also focuses government action on: improving access to primary and acute care; fostering healthy aging and support for seniors; supporting people with addictions and mental health challenges; advancing women’s equality; reducing poverty; and providing support for persons living with a disability.
