Celebrating UNB with Homecoming

The University of New Brunswick celebrated Homecoming this past weekend. The annual event was jam-packed with events that celebrated everything UNB. The theme was “Celebrate UNB,” which was meant to highlight UNB’s school spirit and encourage the campus community to embrace their pride in their school. Homecoming has been the main reunion event of the year for UNB alumni since 1914.

Homecoming, which kicked of Thursday, was filled with events like the Lobster Boil, Family FunFest, guest lectures and history of UNB exhibits. The Homecoming football game was a battle which pitted the UNB Red Bombers against the Dalhousie Tigers. The Tigers took the match sweeping the Bombers 25 to 0. The game commenced after former Bomber alumni from the 1970’s took to the field to honour former Bomber Coach Jim Born.

The Lobster boil was a popular event that had attendees from various years and faculties joined together to share stories and past experiences from the school. Tales of found love, good friends, sports conquests, budding careers, and even from Fredericton were told amoung alumni.

Various lectures were held over the weekend by guest speakers from abroad and from UNB itself. The topics ranged from IT Security and politics. There was also the Research showcase which highlighted the latest innovations and research happening at UNB and how it is affecting the world around us. In short, Homecoming was a huge success with alumni and students coming together to celebrate everything positive about UNB.
