Break out your Pepto Bismol, because this competition is not for those with a weak stomach. This reaper hot sauce eating contest comes with incentive that come from the Reaper himself…a trip to Sin City as the grand prize. The Reaper Cup Break Down
The Reaper Cup will run every Tuesday in September (5, 12, 19, 26). The competition is a ‘single elimination’ battle. The competition starts with 16 participants; 8 on one side and 8 on the other, all in pairs of two. Each week will signify a ‘round’ of competition. The person in each pair who eats 15 reaper wings the fastest will move on to the next week, continuing until there is one person left.
The grand prize is a 4 day 3 night trip for 2 to Las Vegas. Yes, Vegas!!! Home of Celine Dion….Satan herself.
To enter go to the Hilltop Pub Monday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Entrants must be 19 years old to enter.
There will be drink specials during the events for spectators. Everyone is invited to come and watch the festivities starting each Tuesday at 7pm. During the events there will be tickets given out with each drink using our sponsors products that will enter you for a chance to win a door prize for that week. The Reaper whispered in my ear and told me that the prizes are pretty hot…I did agree…he is the reaper.

About The Reaper Pepper
The Carolina Reaper, originally named the HP22B, is a cultivar of the Capsicum chinense plant. The pepper is red and gnarled, with a small pointed tail. In 2013 Guinness World Records dubbed it the hottest chili in the world, surpassing the previous record holder, the Trinidad Scorpion “Butch T”.
Bred in a Rock Hill, South Carolina greenhouse by “Smokin” Ed Currie, proprietor of the PuckerButt Pepper Company in Fort Mill, the Carolina Reaper has been certified as the world’s hottest chili pepper by Guinness World Records since August 7, 2013. The original crossbreed was between a Bhut jolokia (a former world record holder) and a red habanero, and is named ‘Reaper’ due to the shape of its tail.
The official Guinness World Record heat level is 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), according to tests conducted by Winthrop University in South Carolina. The figure is an average for the tested batch; the hottest individual pepper was measured at 2.2 million SHU.
